An aborted attempt at an entry for ljanimorphs:
Why is Animorphs smut so bland? A quick search on Google will give me any kind of Harry Potter smut I desire (or don't, as the case may be) - threesome, pedophilia, incest, slash, femmeslash, watersports, coercion, drug-induced, non-con, bestiality, whatever - within seconds. Doesn't matter if it's so off-the-wall-perverted as to be illegal in nineteen states - it's there. Granted, the HP fandom is huge, and consists of all kinds of folks, but could we just try to move beyond twosome pairings of the six main characters, two-thirds of which are canon anyway? I want Jake/David, damn it. Even Melissa/Tom would be a nice change, as Controllers or otherwise. Hell, Loren/Elfangor would be great, and that's canon, too. Chapman/Animorph would be cool. Rachel/David/Tobias would be awesome. Tobias/Elfangor. Ax/Tobias/Elfangor (difficult in canon timeline, but just barely possible with small tweaks to reality-as-we-know-it!). Arbron/Alloran. Elfangor/Arbron. Elfangor/Sofor. There is potential here, people, and it's not being utilized. Why can the Harry Potter kids have kinky fanfiction smut and we can't? ;)
In that spirit, I offer the following list of weird pairings for your fanfiction speculation. I have attempted to keep it confined to things that could actually exist within Canon As We Know It, so it's not just every possible pairing ever. Also, some pairings are indeed canon, but don't get written about very often (e.g., Elfangor/Loren).
EDIT: And, um, because I've been thinking about this lately, I've decided it might be nice to have some kind of justification for some of these. So I'll be working on that. And, no, felinephoenix, I still don't know if Loren/Elfangor really belongs here - it's alternative in the sense that it's not commonly written, but you have a point about it being canon. I'm taking it off because otherwise I have to include other canon pairings that aren't written about, like Chapman/MrsChapman (it seems like she probably had a name, but I don't remember what it was).
Elfangor and...
Because they're friends in an opposites-attract sort of way, apparently lived in close quarters, shared complaints about teachers/commanders, and generally made an awesome team.
The angst! The pairing is worth it for that alone. Elfangor blames himself for Arbron, Arbron blames himself for Arbron, and then there're choices in timing - nothing can happen after Esplin takes over Alloran without abandoning canon, but up until then it's a very delicate situation with lots of options.
Snarky older male teacher and idealistic youth. It's classic.
Technically possible, though difficult to arrange. Still, there are lots of options - Chapman as he first meets Elfangor, Chapman while he's a Control, Chapman when they're running through Z-space...It's worth a try, anyway, if only because of the balance of power each would be trying to maintain.
Um. Yes. Again, technically possible, though this leads us directly back to the question of Ax's sexuality in the first place. Still, Ax looked up to Elfangor, an- okay, never mind. I'm sure it could be done, and be done well, but someone else will have to do the justification because I'm having a hard time seeing it.

Strangely, this seems more likely than the Elfangor/Ax suggestion, if only because we know next to nothing about Elfangor's parents or Andalite sexuality in the first place. It probably sounds weird if you're not from a family/group that does this, but some people consider family sexuality a completely normal, healthy thing. It's all a matter of perspective.
Well, yes. Tobias. I could see this in an AU, actually, in which the Ellimist never told Elfangor about Tobias and in which Elfangor wasn't eaten directly after meeting Tobias. This is similar to the Ax/Tobias relationship in that I really couldn't see it working if they both knew.
See the note about Sofor. Also, it's worth noting that an Elfangor-tries-to-rescue-Alloran fic could be worked in somewhere, with all kinds of angsting.
Um. Lots of ways this could go, especially depending on your take on the Elfangor/Alloran relationship. Justifiable in that the timelines coincide for the last half of AC, and because Elfangor and Visser Three apparently spent a good bit of time chasing each other around the galaxy.
Hey, if people can write Erek/Ellimist, we can have Elfangor/Ellimist. Also, not to slight the Elfangor-and-Ax-as-Tree's-heirs meme, the Ellimist seems inordinately fond of Elfangor and Tobias, and, by connection, Ax. Why?
Because why the hell not, at this point? Personally, I can't see it working beyond the psychological level, but one never knows...
After a certain point in his life, would Elfangor have wanted anything to do with people? Would he have wanted connections?
Semi-Realistic Threesomes Involving Elfangor

Thus our list of semi-realistic threesomes begins with a reasonably realistic one. Arbron/Elfangor and Alloran/Elfangor, as mentioned above, are justifiable - why not smoosh them together? Also, they were trapped on a ship together for however long, then had the tension-filled scene about flushing the Yeerks out into space...

And then right to one that earns that "semi-". Okay, so - the timelines fit together reasonably well. If one stretches things just slightly, anyway, or works with a post-TimeMatrix setting.

Similar justification to Arbron/Alloran/Elfangor: teacher/students. Stuck on spaceship. There's potential. Somewhere...
Did I write that one? I think I was just trying to mess with people's heads. It's just barely possible, timeline-wise, but while I support Tobias/Ax pre-23, I find it hard to believe that Elfangor would take part. I'm not ruling it out, but...
- Loren/Alloran-as-Andalite/Elfangor
Works in timeline, almost works given what we know of the characters. If one just pushes the Loren/Elfangor agenda up a bit and recalls Alloran's sympathy for her father, it could work.
- Loren/Alloran-as-VisserThree/Elfangor
Isolated together on semi-imaginary world for who-knows-how-long. Had better things to do at the time but, y'know, maybe Elfangor left some parts out.
Elfangor likes humans. That he likes female humans and - one might suppose - female Andalites is a coincidence. If Loren and Chapman had swapped personalities, Elfangor could just as well have liked human males more than females. Leaving aside the nature v. nurture debate, there's no reason at all for Elfangor to have any sort of preset preference regarding human sexuality.
Because Arbron totally goes for authority figures, and Chapman would like to be one.
This list is, of course, one big long prolonged naughty thought, but this threesome in particular brings to mind whips. And then I think of Ax's mention of "tail-whipping" and just giggle for the while at the image of Andalites in black leather. I blame Ursula Vernon.
- Loren/Arbron-as-Andalite/Elfangor
These are not terribly well organized, are they? Anyway: Arbron/Elfangor relationship presupposed, Loren/Elfangor relationship developing, everyone's stuck on a tiny ship. Arbron takes a few minutes off from playing with the computer.
- Loren/Elfangor-as-Human/Alloran-as-VisserThree
I find this one appealing, for whatever reason. There's a strong dynamic between those three, and it would have been nice to see something between them (even non-shippy) after Elfangor became a nothlit
VisserThree (in any host body or morph or as Yeerk, and disregarding proper rank - also referred to as Esplin) and...
Er, yeah, that caveat about any body is causing trouble already. I wonder, though, after the Yeerks had the Escafil Device, if Esplin wouldn't have gotten the power for himself as well, just to be prepared? Not that this is relevant to this pairing, but still.
Anyway. Elfangor/VisserThree: as mentioned above, there are lots of choices. In any case, there's a deep connection between these two - I really think that, on some level, they both respect each other. There are hints of that respect from Esplin throughout the series, and though we never see much from Elfangor, it seems that he was, at least, shocked by the cunning of Esplin's plan to take Alloran's body, and that's something, anyway.
Damn I want one of these! Done right, it'd be as creepy as hell. Again with the power dynamics - Alloran is Esplin's slave. I don't think anything more need be said.
Because Esplin would, or would signal Arbron out for torture, somehow, if he knew who and what he was.
...It's completely non-canon, but now I'm thinking of Elfangor being infested by Esplin and Loren not knowing. And that would rock, in a very twisted sort of way.
Anyway, as with all of these relationships involving Esplin, it comes back to power. Esplin, pre-time-warping, was well on his way to hating Loren. After? Who knows. Does he remember? It's been argued that only memories of events after the Time Matrix was used were erased, but it's hard to say for certain. And I personally love any and all fic dealing with this conundrum.
Basing this on the Chapman-is-Chapman-is-Chapman theory, Esplin clearly remembers Chapman from the days of Andalite Chronicles. But what as? And does it ever occur to Chapman - the real Chapman, the host - to wonder about it? Does his Yeerk have anything to say?
Overdone, especially over at aff.net, but still possible in an Evil Dictator sort of way.
Again: why not? If greater cosmic powers can play around with people's lives and break condoms and all, why can't they have slashy relationships?

Read Harry Potter fanfic, even if you don't know the books. You'll get the idea of the state of mind that induced me to add this to the list.
Because it's just fucked up enough for Esplin. Could potentially even be before she ever heard of Visser One, or when Edriss is off feeding or something.
My acronym suggestion for the names fans of this pairing have chosen for themselves: "CLOSET
Has a nice sense of continuity to it, in a bizarre kind of way. Would almost have to be non-con unless Tobias thought he was someone else entirely (and the options there are greatly varied), though it might be interesting in a crackfic kind of way to have it be non-non-con.
General twistedness on the part of Esplin, I expect. Interesting thought (well, kind of): does he know they aren't Andalites?

Why? I don't know. Because he could, I suppose. Perhaps even as human, in a twisted sort of tribute to Elfangor and his decision to be with Loren.
Would be weird, and perhaps physically impossible. Still, worth considering, if you've made it this far anyway.
He's rather fond of Tom, too, apparently - technically the host body should be irrelevant and, for security, it'd probably be better to cycle through them on a long-term basis anyway, but Tom always seems to hang out in the inner circles. Why?
Tossed in because I mentioned Chapman earlier, and it didn't seem fair to leave her out. There's potential, I suppose, but it'd be kind of random, canon-wise. Unlike all the rest of these.
Canon implies that she's important somehow - or is that just the result of fic writers taking to her so? In any case, she shows up a lot, and Esplin shows up a lot, and that means ship potential!
Could probably be just as easily replaced with a canon character, unless you're dead-set on an OC.
